The people behind
AZA Morocco Tours
We are a Marrakech-based team of Moroccan guides, drivers and travel specialists who have been running small-group and private tours since 2018. Every person on our team was born or raised in Morocco. We do not outsource, subcontract, or use freelancers.
Our story
AZA exists because too many Morocco tours miss what makes Morocco worth visiting. Big groups on a fixed script. Tourist restaurants with laminated menus. A check-the-boxes itinerary in a country that rewards curiosity and patience. We started AZA in Marrakech in 2018 to do it differently.
Our focus is simple: deliver a genuinely great trip, every time. That means small groups (max 10), only licensed local guides, and itineraries built around what a traveller actually wants — not what is easiest to sell. We would rather run fewer tours well than more tours averagely.
That focus has held. Our most common review word on TripAdvisor is “authentic.” About a third of our bookings come from repeat clients or direct referrals.
We are based in Marrakech and operate throughout Morocco — the Sahara, the imperial cities, the Atlas Mountains, and the Atlantic coast. We are licensed by the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism and carry full public liability insurance.
How we operate
Small groups, always
We cap every group at 10 people. Not because we have to — because it produces a fundamentally better experience. You get a guide who knows your name and an itinerary that bends around people, not a schedule.
Licensed local guides only
Every tour is led by a Moroccan Ministry of Tourism licensed guide. No freelancers, no "cultural liaisons" — certified professionals who have lived the places they show you.
Vetted accommodation
We stay in family-run riads and boutique guesthouses selected for character and location. We visit and inspect every property annually. If standards slip, we move.
Responsible tourism
We pay above-market rates to local suppliers, employ local drivers, and avoid sites that exploit animals or people. We are members of the Responsible Travel Morocco initiative.
Fully licensed and insured
AZA Morocco Tours is a licensed tour operator registered with the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism. All tours carry full public liability insurance.
24/7 on-the-ground support
Your guide's number is in your trip pack. If anything goes wrong, you have a direct line to a person who is already in Morocco and can help immediately.

friend.” With more than a decade spent guiding travellers across Morocco, from Tangier to the Sahara, Ismail has an extraordinary ability to make every guest feel genuinely looked after. But his role goes beyond guiding. He understands that the best Morocco journey starts with understanding the traveller — what excites them, how they like to travel, and what they want to discover. That’s what allows him to help turn a first idea into an itinerary that truly feels like their Morocco.

Moha

he was the one on the phone and email with early clients, working out what people actually wanted and building itineraries around real lives rather than a fixed template. He later moved into the field to guide clients in person, which is why AZA's tours are built by someone who has both planned them and lived them. Moha still gets personally involved in planning client trips and is usually the person who understands a route's logistics best before anyone else on the team — he also now runs AZA's website, SEO and online presence, so if you found AZA online, he's a big part of the reason why.
