7-Day Atlas & Sahara Adventure Tour
A 7-day small-group tour combining proper Atlas Mountains trekking near Imlil with a night in the Sahara at Merzouga — mountains first, then the dunes.
Real trekking days around Imlil and the Toubkal foothills, Berber villages that see few tourists, and — on the longer routes — a night in the Sahara to close the loop.
Most Morocco itineraries treat the Atlas Mountains as a scenic drive-through on the way to the desert. Ours don’t. These routes are built around actual walking days in the High Atlas foothills — valley trails, mule paths between Berber villages, and views of Jebel Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak, without needing mountaineering experience.
Both routes below use Imlil as the trekking base, with licensed local guides who grew up in these valleys. The 7-day version adds a night in the Sahara dunes at Merzouga for travellers who want mountains and desert in one trip.

A 4-day small-group trekking tour based around Imlil and the Toubkal foothills in the High Atlas — real walking days, Berber villages, no desert detour.
No technical climbing is involved on either route — these are valley and foothill trails, not summit attempts. A reasonable fitness level helps, but both tours are designed for travellers without mountaineering experience.
April to June and September to November give the most comfortable trekking temperatures. Winter brings snow to the higher trails (beautiful, but colder gear is needed); July–August is hot but still walkable in the mountains, unlike the Sahara portion of the 7-day route, which we pause in peak summer.
Yes — the 7-Day Atlas & Sahara Adventure does exactly that: mountain trekking first, then a night in the Merzouga dunes. If you only have a few days, the 4-Day Atlas Mountains Trekking Tour stays entirely in the mountains.
