Why Morocco is Perfect for Seniors
Move from a UNESCO-listed medieval city to the Sahara to Atlantic beaches — no long-haul internal flights. Our itineraries build in rest days so you never feel rushed.
Moroccan culture places great respect on older generations. Expect genuine warmth — a glass of mint tea pressed into your hands, conversation that has nowhere else to be. Senior travelers consistently rate Morocco more welcoming than anywhere they've been in Europe.
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) bring 18–26°C across the country — warm enough to enjoy, cool enough for comfortable sightseeing. Our guided tours in Fes and Marrakech move at the pace of conversation.
Ground-floor riad suites, wide coach seats with regular stops, walking distances disclosed in advance. Our Morocco travel tips cover everything before you land.

How We Keep Pace Comfortable
The number-one question we hear from senior travelers: “Will I feel rushed?” The answer from every guest who has traveled with us: no.
No departures before 8:30am
On longer driving days we leave no earlier than 9:00am. Your body clock stays close to its natural rhythm throughout the trip.
Afternoons are always yours
After morning sightseeing, afternoons are free. Optional activities — a cooking class, a souk walk — are never back-to-back.
Walking distances disclosed upfront
Every day's plan in your pre-departure pack includes approximate walking distance and surface type. No surprises.
Private vehicle on standby
On every departure, a backup transfer option exists for anyone who wants to skip a section or return to the hotel early. No social pressure — ever.

What our guests say
Verified reviews from real travellers
“I travelled solo and was nervous about joining a group at my age. I needn't have worried. Our guide Youssef adjusted everything to make sure I never felt left behind. The riads were beautiful and the pace was exactly right — mornings sightseeing, afternoons free. Morocco completely surprised me.”
“We've toured Europe and Asia but Morocco with AZA was different entirely. The personal attention was extraordinary — our driver remembered my wife's dietary needs from day one. The desert camp had proper beds and a real en-suite. One of the highlights of our traveling lives.”
“I was apprehensive about Morocco — I had read things online that made me uncertain. The reality was entirely different. People are warm, the food is extraordinary, the historic sites are unlike anything I've seen in Europe. The small group of 10 became good friends over eight days.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Morocco is one of the more stable countries in North Africa and a well-established international tourism destination. The major cities — Marrakech, Fes, Casablanca — have significant tourist infrastructure. Our guides accompany you at all times during city visits and are trained to navigate busy medinas safely.
For first-time visitors, the Imperial Cities at Leisure 8-day tour is the most popular — three of Morocco's greatest cities at an unhurried pace. For those who've dreamed of the Sahara, the 10-day Desert Rhythms package makes the desert section accessible without requiring high fitness levels. Both are capped at 12 guests.
The medinas of Fes and Marrakech are pedestrian zones, so some walking is part of the experience — but distances are shorter than they appear on a map. A typical morning involves 2–4 kilometres at a comfortable pace, with regular stops. We provide advance notice of any sections involving uneven or cobbled surfaces.
Our Easy-rated tours require only normal everyday mobility — the ability to walk 2–4 kilometres comfortably and manage short flights of stairs. Easy–Moderate tours add optional sections like a short dune walk, always with a non-walking alternative available.
Morocco's ancient medinas were not built with wheelchair access in mind, and we are transparent about this. However, significant portions are navigable with a walking stick, and our guides route around the steepest sections. Travelers who use a wheelchair or rollator should contact us directly so we can design a custom itinerary around Morocco's most accessible sites.
March to May and September to November are ideal — temperatures of 18–26°C, warm enough to enjoy without being oppressive. The desert is also most comfortable in these months. We recommend avoiding July and August when temperatures in Marrakech and Fes regularly exceed 38°C.
Absolutely, and many guests do. Solo travelers book a single room (sole occupancy supplement applies) and join a small group of 12 or fewer. Our guides are attentive to solo travelers and the small group size means you'll feel part of the group quickly. Several of our most loyal returning guests first joined us as solo seniors.
Travel insurance is required for all AZA tours. Your policy should include medical evacuation cover (minimum €1,000,000), trip cancellation cover, and cover for any pre-existing conditions. Morocco has private clinics in all major cities and your guide will always know the nearest facility.
Still have questions? Our team in Marrakech will happily talk through every detail.
